?stick my hands thru the cage of this endless routine just some flesh caught in this big broken machine?
Now that Apple’s bringing a ‘change the depth of field after shooting’ feature to iOS, I hope they don’t use that as an excuse to kick third party apps out of the store just because they also do that. Be a shame to lose the one I use, as it offers many more related features.
Yet another case of a faculty being frustrated by a device not working with the computer. I arrive and explain that the Ethernet port is not where the USB cord goes. Why did they make the USB plug that precise size so it can mistakenly be placed in Ethernet?
@matigo hrmmm. That does sound interesting. Will see how it turns out if/when it ships.
@matigo real shame the phones can’t stand on their sides now. I actually used that feature when I propped up my 5S to video record my friend’s wedding. Just sat the thing on its side on a bookshelf in the back of the room and set a video recording app to go. Turned out pretty damn good! Used an old 4 hidden by the wedding party to record audio and synced the tracks up in iMovie. Not pro-level 4K production, sure, but worked just fine and only used the equipment I had on hand. The square metal also was a plus when I video recorded my cousin’s wedding propping the phone in a tree branch. Not as smooth a phone as the modern ones so it didn’t slide out and stayed put through the ceremony so I could share the video with my mom (who couldn’t make it in person).
Apple seems to be forgetting about all these ‘human’ use cases and focusing on fancy phones that can’t be used as well. Upsets me greatly.
@matigo they also Android? I still refuse to use that. Too much google spying for my tastes.
@matigo heh. Funny I didn’t even see this (was busy ranting) yet I started out addressing it. Yeah the notch is totally not a problem. You get used to it super easy and many things either don’t hit it naturally or work around it well. Same for the home button, I don’t miss it at all and the geatures are fine. It does cause a discoverability issue so the learning curve is steeper, but once learnt it’s fine.
The 5s (and its younger twins the SE) was the absolute pinnacle of iPhone design. Metal sides and back so it could take a serious beating and not flinch. Flat edges so it can stand up on bottom and sides, small enough for one-handed use. No camera bump. That was a phone truly designed to be used by humans.
Lack of home button and notch I’m perfectly fine with. It’s more the overall size in every dimension is wrong. Too Fucking Big in both width and height (so as impossible to use one-handed), yet Too Fucking Small in depth (thus causing the camera bump). And rounded edges are stupid, can’t set it on its side. And holly carp I can’t count how many screenshots of my lock screen I have taken by mistake (and my degree is Math, I know all the big numbers!). Who the fuck put the lock button directly across from volume-up?!?!?
